The Churches of St. Mark and St. Luke

Pastor Emily Rova-Hegener

Welcome to Holy Humor Sunday

Seussian Call To Worship

Pastor: Resurrected Lord, we gather together!

Congregation: It doesn’t matter, be it cloudy, sunny or windy, the weather!

Pastor: Like the women at the tomb,

Congregation: our hearts may feel a bit of gloom!

Pastor: The stone is rolled away,

Congregation: Christ Jesus is here to stay!

Pastor: He meets us where we are at!

Congregation: He loves us, cares for us and wants us to be free at last!

Pastor: Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice!

Congregation: Together we use our voice!

Pastor: He Is Risen! Indeed! Alleluia! Amen!

Congregation: Dear Jesus, we are happy to see you again!

Confession and Forgiveness:

Pastor: We come before God, confessing our sin. We come as sisters, brothers and next of kin. Standing or sitting next to each other, we remember the ways that we’ve hurt one another. Things that we’ve said, things that we’ve done, hear us good Lord, we wish we could run. Take a moment, now and then, to think about ways, we will return to Jesus again.

People: You’ve heard all our cries, dear Jesus you died. We have been restored and claim you as Lord. In your forgiveness and grace, we strive to keep up the pace! Send us back to the world as your people unfurled! Amen! Alleluia!

Gathering Song: Hallelu Hallelu Hallelujah! Praise Ye The Lord!

Psalm 100

Gospel Luke 24:13-35

Offering Prayer

Lord’s Prayer (Please note: everyone will automatically be unmuted)

Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, And the power, and the glory. Forever, and ever. Amen.

Song: This Little Light Of Mine!

Benediction: Today is the day that the Lord has made! It’s time that we’re off – no time to delay! The Word in your head, a path for your feet, God’s blessings will follow and that’s pretty sweet! Choose all your choices, choose them with care! And soon you will find God’s presence is there. God’s with us today, tomorrow and more – may God’s peace and love find you, wherever you are!

P: Go in peace and serve the Lord. C: Thanks be to God!
